Lagos Fire Command

On 1st October 1944, the 2nd Coast Regiment, W.A.A. was re-designated as Lagos Fire Command.  Major G.N. Butterworth was the Commanding Officer. [1]

The Fire Command controlled two batteries; the 4th and 5th Coast Batteries, W.A.A.  The 4th Battery had manned the 6-inch guns while the 5th Coast Battery, W.A.A. had manned the 12-pounder guns, used in the A.M.T.B. role.[2] 

The 5th Battery had previously ceased to be operational on 4th September 1944.  The 4th Battery ceased to be operational on 31st May 1945.[3]

Lagos Fire Command was disbanded on 1st October 1945.
