5th Coast Battery, West African Artillery

On 4th July 1941 (but with effect from 1st March 1941) the 5th Coast Battery, W.A.A. was formed at Lagos to man the 12-pounder guns, used in the A.M.T.B. role.  The Battery was regimented with the 2nd Coast Regiment, W.A.A.[1] 

The 5th Battery ceased to be operational on 4th September 1944.[2]

On 1st October 1944, the Regiment was re-designated as Lagos Fire Command.[3]
