106th (East Africa) Anti-Tank Battery, E.A.A.
311th (E.A.) Anti-Tank Regiment, E.A.A.
On 25th September 1944, at Gilgil, the 106th (E.A.) Anti-Tank Battery, E.A.A. was formed by the conversion and redesignation of the 205th (E.A.) L.A.A. Battery. Together with the 105th (E.A.) Anti-Tank Battery, it was regimented with the 311th (E.A.) Anti-Tank Regiment, E.A.A., which was also formed on 25th September. [Note: these changes appear to have not taken effect until 26th October][1]
Between 23rd and 26th October 1944, the 106th Battery undertook training at the Naivahsa artillery ranges. Major H. Middlehurst, previously Commander of the 205th L.A.A. Battery, continued to command the Battery. Middlehurst was posted on 2nd February 1945 and was succeeded as Battery Commander by Captain J.W. Swainston.[2]
The 106th (E.A.) Anti-Tank Battery, E.A.A. was disbanded on 15th June 1945.[3]
