310th (East Africa) Light Regiment, E.A.A.

The 310th (East Africa) Light Regiment, E.A.A. was formed at Larkhill on 31st October 1944.  The 75th (E.A.) Light Battery also formed that day and was regimented.  The 71st (E.A.) Field Battery, formerly of the 308th (E.A.) Field Regiment, E.A.A., converted to become a light battery and was also regimented.  Both batteries were equipped with the 3.7-inch howitzer.  The Regiment was under the command of H.Q. Kenanda Sub Area.  The Commanding Officer was Major P.G.N. T-C. Worsley.[1]

Major Worsley left with a reinforcement draft for Burma on 15th February 1945.  He was succeeded by Major H.D. Tollington.[2]

On 5th April 1945, the 71st Light Battery left for Nanyuki to participate in Exercise ‘Chindwin’.  The Battery did not return to Larkhill until 4th May.[3]

On 15th June 1945, the 310th (E.A.) Light Regiment and the 75th (E.A.) Light Battery were disbanded.  The 71st (E.A.) Light Battery rejoined the 308th (E.A.) Field Regiment as a field battery.[4]
